ACC, PCC and MCC credentials are valid for the three-year period following the coach's initial certification or latest renewal. Credentials must be renewed by December 31 of the year the credential expires. For example, a credential awarded in 2007 must be renewed by December 31, 2010.

Renewal Requirements

  • Documented participation in a minimum of 40 hours of Continuing Coach Education (CCE) over the three-year period since initial certification or last renewal.
  • A minimum of 24 CCE hours must directly relate to  the ICF Core Competencies.
  • The remaining 16 CCE hours must relate to either the ICF Core Competencies or to i) the personal development of the coach, ii) the development of the coach's practice or iii) skills or tools that are directly applicable to coaching.
  • In addition , ACC renewal candidates must also submit proof of an additional 10 hours of Mentor Coaching above those hours required for their initial certification. Please see the renewal application for more details.

  • CCE Approved Providers. These are listed in the Training Program Search Service.
  • Individual courses which the applicant has not previously completed within an ICF Accredited Coach Training Program (ACTP) or Approved Coach Specific Training Hours (ACSTH). Please note: Coach training schools must apply for and be awarded CCEUs for courses not included in an ACTP or ACSTH. ACTP and ACSTH programs are listed in the Training Program Search Service.

"I chose to renew my PCC for several reasons: renewing keeps me growing as a coach; it shows my clients that I take my profession seriously; and it supports professionalism in coaching."

"To me, the ICF Credential says that I am a well-trained professional who meets or exceeds the high standards of the governing body of the coaching industry. The PCC designation that I have means I have the experience, the training, the hours and the skills to call myself a credentialed coach. It also speaks to my commitment to both myself and the profession of coaching."
